The narrative of #ORIONPen does not begin in a factory, but in the demanding world of international trade in the early 1990s. While Mr. Purnendu Kanji initiated the enterprise, Mr. Krishnendu Kanji (his brother) stood alongside him from inception.
Across a decade of shared export endeavours, they forged a deep operational partnership well before establishing their flagship brand. Together, they established a complementary leadership dynamic: strategic market foresight paired with operational precision.
Mr. Purnendu Kanji provided the strategic vision. A gifted chemistry prodigy with a brilliant academic record, he mastered the mechanics of international trade to build an expansive global network. Complementing this vision, Mr. Krishnendu Kanji directed operational reality, overseeing every stage of facility development with unyielding manufacturing standards.
Together, they navigated international trade forums and executive delegations as a unified leadership team. In 1999, they founded the parent company of #ORIONPen, fulfilling a personal commitment to their mother, Ms. Sarajubala Kanji, to build a global business rooted in their homeland.

Named in honour of their mother “Saraju (pronounced Sho-ro-ju) Agriways Exports Private Limited,” thereby combining international technical capability with the enduring heritage of its origins.
